Asomugha talks about 49ers' offseason pursuit; Reid updates Vick's status
Philadelphia cornerback spoke to the media through conference call on Wednesday and spoke about the ' interest in his services during the free agency period. Asomugha said he never had any direct contact with the 49ers at the time.
"If there were any talks, it was just with my agent," Asomugha said. "Everything was moving so fast, there wasn't any talks with me."
Looking forward, Asomugha says that the Eagles are still trying to get on the same page, hence why they are off to a slow start.
"We want to be better than we have these past few games," he said. "Everybody is confident about where we can build."
Fortunately for him, the 49ers aren't a team that he is unfamiliar with. In fact, Asomugha knows the 49ers very well and sees a great potential for the receivers.
"I've played them before... from the last eight years, we've been playing them in Oakland," he said of the annual preseason matchups he had against the 49ers while playing with the Raiders. "I know the receivers they had, they can get downfield,Brady Quinn Jerseys. I know Harbaugh has a gameplan that can get those guys downfield. It's just a matter of getting open. Those opportunities are going to come."
But knowing Asomugha's skills, the 49ers receivers will have a tough time having a big receiving day on him.

The talk of the week has been the health status of Eagles quarterback . Vick has a bruised right hand (non-throwing) and he may or may not play on Sunday. The quarterback thinks he'll be ready for the game.
"I will be out there on Sunday, regardless," Vick said on Wednesday. "There is a 100-percent chance I'm playing,Demaryius Thomas Jersey."
Eagles head coach was more careful about updating Vick's status. Reid said that Vick was a full participant in the Eagles' morning walkthrough.
"Good enough to take snaps," Reid said of Vick. "Improved quite a little bit from yesterday to today. I expect it to continue to improve."
Reid did say that the biggest concern for him is that Vick might have some trouble handling snaps from center. And if Vick struggles or his hand doesn't heal during the week, he won't jeopardize the team by putting him in the game.
One thing Reid did openly talk about was his praise for what head coach Jim Harbaugh has done with the offense in San Francisco.
"It looks like the players, quarterback in particular, are enjoying that system," Reid said. "It's quarterback friendly."
Reid praised Harbaugh for being a creative guy, an "expert" at coaching quarterbacks and that he was a great fit for the 49ers offense.

Quick notes:
, there will be a couple changes to the Eagles secondary on Sunday: Brian Rolle will start at weakside linebacker and Nate Allen will be at starting free safety.
Jim Harbaugh said that he expects both RB Frank Gore (ankle) and WR Michael Crabtree (foot) to play on Sunday.
Reid praised the 49ers rush defense and said they were "stout and athletic". When asked if he could identify any standouts on defense he singled out, Reid laughed and said that all the players stood out to him.
Since the 49ers needed a place to practice, the team decided to run their walkthrough in the hotel parking lot.
