Lions re-sign Fluellen, add Jacob Lacey
The Lions have been quiet in free agency, but they . First, they re-signed defensive tackle Andre Fluellen. Second, they signed cornerback .
I've liked Fluellen as a player for a few years, but of course he plays at the most stacked position the Lions have. He's not as good as Ndamukong Suh, Nick Fairley, Corey Williams, or even Sammie Hill. As such, he isn't likely to get much playing time. However, when he does play, he should be good enough.
Lacey is only 24, and he has started 27 games for the Indianapolis Colts over the past three seasons. His best season was actually his rookie year, when he had 85 tackles, three interceptions, and 13 passes defensed,Denver Broncos Jersey. He's a pretty good cornerback, but he's not as good as Eric Wright, who the Lions lost to the Buccaneers. Could he be a solid starter for Detroit? Sure, in a pinch. However,Denver Broncos Jerseys, I'd much rather he fight Alphonso Smith for the third cornerback spot and have the Lions sign somebody else to start across from Chris Houston.
That being said, if the Lions draft a cornerback in the first round and combine him with Lacey and everybody else, they could have a solid secondary. Plus, if the defensive line is able to keep pressure on opposing quarterbacks, that will help. Detroit still needs to re-sign Stephen Tulloch, or try and swing for the fences on Curtis Lofton, but at least they have made a couple of moves.
